Walk Boosters - Fit Cuffs!

Post date: Feb 1, 2014 12:30:52 AM

I love, love LOVE a good Walk Booster! We take the program to a whole new level when we add tools such as hand weights to our walks to bump up the intensity. This gives us a bigger calorie burn. Here's my absolute favorite - Fit Cuffs! (I affectionately refer to them as 'fit cuffies')

The cuffs are secured around your ankles, and the tubes provide

resistance. I take you through a series of stationary standing moves as well as exercises down on a yoga mat that will give every muscle in your lower body a challenge! As with any tool, it's not a toy - if not used properly, you can cause injury, so it's important to follow along and pay attention to what your body is doing and how it's executing the moves. Here are just a few of the muscles we'll target: gluteus maximus (your sweet hind end), rectus femoris (quad muscle on the front of your thigh), tensor fasciae latae (outer thigh), gluteus medius (outer thigh), biceps femoris & semitendinosus (hamstrings), adductor longus (inner thigh), and many more.

Contrary to what many believe, strength training, certainly the kind we do,

will not add bulk to the muscles. In fact, you will become more trim as themuscles become leaner and more toned. This particular tool is extremely effective for sculpting your lower body, giving you beautiful shape! Once you've built endurance and strength, you can add intensity simply by tying a knot in the tube. Adding strength training to your workouts will also boost your resting metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories at rest - even while you sleep!

The Fit Cuff is the first of several Continuing Education courses I have completed or will complete in the coming weeks - interval training is coming, as well as exercises for strong abs and back!

What are YOU waiting for? It's time to take it up a notch! Come out to a Walk Live class and get your WALK on!
